Apartment Review: Apartment and Room Marija, Krk – Croatia

September 12, 2021 By James Clark

Apartment Review: Apartment and Room Marija, Krk - Croatia

Hotel Name: Apartment and Room Marija.
Address: Ulica Get 13, Krk, Croatia.

I stayed at Apartment and Room Marija in Krk, Croatia. I booked it online and picked it for its location in Krk. This “Double Room with Balcony” booking was listed at €34.25 per night, plus they added a €10 cleaning fee on top of that. That was the first time I recall seeing a cleaning fee added to a booking.com booking, but at least there weren’t other fees added like Airbnb tend to do.

Krk is a popular island destination in Croatia with several small towns on it. I wanted to stay in the old town (also called Krk), so I checked on the booking map for something that looked as close to the old town as possible. The Marija is right inside the old town, in the historic pedestrian area with cobbled streets. Sometimes these places can be troublesome to find, but the streets here are well marked, and Google Maps lead the way without a problem.

Get Ulica

Apartment accommodation is more prevalent in Croatia than budget hotels, and so far on this trip I had mostly been staying in such places. They are usually private places without the owner being there, so checking in procedures vary. After the delay of checking in to my apartment in Rijeka, I should have learned my lessons by now. Again, I forgot to check how to get the key, so I was left stranded outside. I went for dinner and used the wifi to get the door code.

The apartment is in a self-contained house that has a private courtyard. There are a few other apartments within this little compound.

Entrance

The apartment is a proper self-contained apartment and not just a rented room in the owner’s apartment. Upon walking into the apartment there is a kitchenette in the hallway between rooms.

Kitchenette

The bedroom had a double bed with a window facing out at a pedestrian shopping street in the old town.

Bed

The furnishing looked old but have been kept in good condition, and gave me the feeling of being in a cozy room of someone’s grandparent’s place. Unlike someone’s grandparent’s place, there is wifi here.

TV

The bathroom looked like the most modern room, and it was also kept in top condition.

Bathroom

Overall this was a great place to stay in the Krk old town. This was one of the cheapest budget private rooms available when I booked, and in the end I was happy with the price and location.

Check prices for Apartment and Room Marija, or search for more hotels in Krk. If you are visiting in the summer months then book well in advance.
