Hi Sandy, I saw those places to stay on the cliff and thought they would be a good option. Palolem being the most picturesque and Arambol having the best vibe is an accurate way to describe it. I can see how you come back!

It's always lovely to read about Goa, thank you. I stay for at least a month every year at Cliffside, Arambol. Cliffside is the jutting-out rocky area between the main beach and the second beach in front of Sweet Lake. Of course it's more expensive, but worth it for the quiet (only foot traffic) and the uninterrupted views. You mention only one ATM at Arambol Junction but I guess you were not there at the opening time for Bank of India because there's an ATM inside as well. I've also spent weeks at Palolem Beach in the south (probably the most picture-postcard beach in Goa) and neighbouring Pernem Beach, but Aramabol has the best vibe and community, and it offers more variety of places to stay.

It all looks okay, but as you note, back then things would have been different, nut probably still a pain.

While I never made to Asia, due to unforseen circumstances, I did travel a lot. It may or may not be of interest to people.

Hi James thanks for the informative post . Was just wondering if you could include prices for guesthouses and coffee shops you try. I know they change quickly, but it would be a good guide.

Thanks! I actually have a separate post about Panjim as it felt like a different trip from the beaches. Stay tuned next week :)

Brilliant report, easily the best, most informative description of the area in ages. More time spent in Panjim would have been the only thing I would have liked to have done. Just to have got to know more of the daily lives of locals. Can't wait to return now. Thanks again James
