On the second stop of my seven destination tour of Asia I visited Phuket in Thailand. While Phuket is best known for beaches there is an interesting old town area in the provincial capital city, Phuket Town.
I was there a few years ago so I went and had another look to see what has changed. Over the last few years there has been a bit of a hipster movement going on here, with little cafes and galleries popping up. Read more about this at the Carlson Blog: Phuket: The Town, The Island, and The Province.
While I was in Phuket I stayed at the Radisson Blu Plaza Resort Phuket Panwa Beach.

Davao (Philippines), Phuket (Thailand), Bangkok (Thailand), Mamallapuram (India), Jaipur (India), Chongqing (China), Shanghai (China).
I spent quite a lot of time in the old town, it has lots of interesting places, possibly a place to settle if you can ignore the rest of the bs on Phuket..
I liked the vibe there as well.
I love hearing about these lessor known places!
Oldtown looks a lot better now that they took down a lot of the wires. I don’t think the jobs finished yet, but eventually most, maybe all, of the wires will be buried.
