The Downing Hostel, Sydney – Australia

October 4, 2017 By James Clark

The Downing Hostel, Sydney - Australia

Hotel Name: The Downing Hostel
Address: 253 Castlereagh Street, Sydney CBD, 2000 Sydney, Australia

I stayed at The Downing Hostel in Sydney. I booked a private room with a shared bathroom for $99 AUD per night. That’s at the cheap end of the scale for a private room in the Sydney CBD.

Th hostel is one block from St James train station, so it is easy to get to from the airport train.

The Downing Hostel

My private room was clean and bright, with a big window facing the street. The bed was a double bed with a single bunk. There was a work desk in the room as well.

Private room

The common area is comprised of tables lined along a corridor so it felt a bit odd sitting there while it is a passage way.

Common area

There is a shared kitchen with enough space for self catering. There are supermarkets nearby as well so you can cook for yourself.

Kitchen

The shared bathroom were kept in good order.

Bathroom

There is wifi throughout the hostel and i had no problem connecting in my room. The hostel dorm rooms seemed a bit more cramped, and the common areas weren’t very well laid out. Overall this was ok if you are just looking for a cheap private room.

Book The Downing Hostel online or search for more hotels in Sydney.
