Flight Review: South African Airways – Johannesburg to Windhoek

March 22, 2015 By James Clark 1 Comment

Flight: South African Airways SA 74
From: Johannesburg (JNB) To: Windhoek (WDH)

South African Airways - Johannesburg to Windhoek

I flew with South African Airways from Johannesburg to Windhoek, booking via airfare search site Vayama. The flight was provided by the Namibia Tourism Board as part of a press trip I took to Namibia.

This flight was the last of three flights I took to get from Bangkok to Windhoek (here were my BKK-HKG and HKG-JNB legs).

After flying overnight for 13 hours from Hong Kong to Johannesburg, this was an easy flight for me. This flight was boarded on the tarmac, so I have technically touched the ground in South Africa (but I still don’t count it as having visited).

A cooked lunch was provided and I had the chicken, potato, and spinach option. It was a tasty lunch and I am still pleasantly surprised when an airline provides a cooked lunch on a 2 hour flight.

The flight arrived just ahead of schedule at Hosea Kutako International Airport. There are no air bridges at WDH so you walk form the plane to the terminal.
