Good day, is the beach you mention swimmable? I was there visiting my distributor once, remember nice lunch place overlooking the sea. But as James mentioned did not strike me as even occasional beach destination, more goody-foody one. ?

Thanks Peter, yes, it feels like a nice little discovery even after all of these years of travel in Thailand. I will be interested to see how it develops if the HSR is finally built. It would become a commutable distance to Bangkok.

I had planned to stay on Koh Si Change, but I changed my plan. Something to do for next time!

Nice write-up James.
Although I've lived in Thailand +30 years, with 22 of those years just 2hrs drive from Sri Racha, i didn't discover Sri Racha as a great place for short holidays until about 10 years ago, and now we're frequent visitors. If in doubt where to stay, Oakwood, smack in the middle of things, is a great place to stay. Due to the huge Japanese presence, there are very decent hotels, restaurants, etc., and the town has a very calm atmosphere. To me it's a little Thai secret I don't tell colleagues about, let them all go with the herd to Pattaya.
It's a lovely trip to Koh Si Chang. Not far by ferry, and it's a journey with great views. The island isn't huge. Hiring a tuk tuk driver for a few hours tour is the best way to see the island. There's a very nice and popular beach on the side of the island furthest away from the mainland. Haven't stayed the night yet, but planning to sometime.
