After visiting Unawatuna, Mirissa, and Hikkaduwa, Negombo was my final beach stop in Sri Lanka. I stayed in Negombo for its proximity to the airport. It’s definitely not the best beach in Sri Lanka but I was happy to get one last beach walk and sunset before leaving the next day.
It’s curious to walk around here and see so many foreigners staying here when there are way better beaches in Sri Lanka. Sure, many of these fellow tourists would have been on their first or last day. Perhaps for northern Europeans this beach is more than enough.
As always when I stay in such places I seek out markets and any remnants of old architecture as well as going for beach walks. Overall I enjoyed spending the afternoon here and being a little bit closer to the airport for my morning flight.
