Guesthouse Name: Kaktus Guest House
Address: Plebiscytowa 21/3, Katowice, Poland.
I stayed at the Kaktus Guest House in Katowice, Poland. I booked it for its location, being close to the main train station, and the rate was 55 PLN ($14.85 USD) per night for a private room with shared bathroom.
When I booked I wasn’t familiar with the layout of Katowice. Usually I would book a place on the main side of the city, which faces the train station entrance. In this case the property is on the other side of the tracks. It turns out that there is a good neighbourhood behind the tracks as well, so it worked in my favour.
The guesthouse is less than 10 minutes walk from the station. Katowice is famous for being an industrial city, so I was pleasantly surprised to see so many grand buildings in the street.
I got a private room, and my room was huge. I was in a corner room that was surrounded by windows, and being an old building the ceiling was was also high.
I got a single room, and keeping with its description there was a single bed in the room. Despite it looking out of place in such a cavernous room it was very comfortable.
My room also had two tables, perhaps as a way to fill space.
There were two bathrooms on my floor, and were clean and modern.
The floor also had a basic kitchen if you are a self-caterer.
There is free wifi at the guesthouse, and I got a good signal, even in my far corner room. There is no breakfast service here.
Nearby there is a laundry and a mini supermarket. It’s also a 5 minute walk to the airport minivan service, which departs from behind the main train station. This turned out to be a bonus as my minivan departed at 4.45am. There is also a great cafe in the same building on the ground level. My room in this picture is the top corner windows.
Overall this was a great place to stay in Katowice if you are looking for a budget private room. Book the Kaktus Guest House online or search for more hostels and hotels in Katowice.
