Hotel Name: Hotel Saint Nicolas
Address: 13 Rue Sardinerie, La Rochelle, France
I stayed at the Hotel Saint Nicolas in La Rochelle, France. I was a guest of the hotel which was arranged by the Charente-Maritime tourism office.
The Hotel Saint Nicolas is conveniently situated just outside the historic old town area of La Rochelle, and about 10 minutes walk from the train station. The hotel is on a little plaza which gives lots of natural light to the interior.
I got a double room which had a actual double (not the two singles as some Euro hotels tend to do).
The room was small but they have made the most of the space with functional furniture, such as the uncluttered desk with chair, and easy-access power outlets.
In the foyer there is a reading lounge as well as public computers. I got a good wifi connection in my room so I didn’t have to resort to the public option.
In addition to being fronted on a plaza the hotel also has an open backspace so the hotel feels much larger than its initial appearance. In the breakfast area there is an extension looking out into a garden.
Breakfast is additional and is buffet style, featuring cereals, pastries, a variety of breads, fruits, and yogurts.
Overall this was a great place to stay in La Rochelle. The location next to the old town let me come and go from my room throughout the day.
