Hikkaduwa Travel Guide

Hikkaduwa Beach is about 20km north of Galle, heading towards Colombo. I wasn’t planning on coming here but I was on my way back to Colombo and I wasn’t quite ready to give up the beaches.

I had read that Hikkaduwa was more developed and crowded, so I wasn’t expecting much. The beach is lovely though and long enough to have the development spread out. There is one section where the buildings have been built on the sand, to the point that the beach becomes impassable during high tide, but most of the beach resembles a long, sandy stretch.

Where to stay in Hikkaduwa

I stayed at the Lovely Tourist Guest House which is not far from the train station. I would stay somewhere along the beach I had to pick another place.
