Flight Review: British Airways – London Heathrow to Tallinn

Flight Review: British Airways - London Heathrow to Tallinn

Flight: British Airways BA 876
From: London Heathrow (LHR) To: Tallinn (TLL)

I flew with British Airways from London to Tallinn.

I compared flight options with Skyscanner and my options were Ryanair, easyJet, and BA. After adding bags and considering the cost of getting to the airports, the BA flight was only a few pounds more so I went with that.

Skyscanner

I hadn’t flown with BA for years and there have been some changes to the airline since my last flight. For a start, European flights no longer have free baggage.

And if you want to pick a seat it now costs 7 GBP to do so. I passed on the offer to try my luck picking a seat later.

British Airways - reserve your seats

It turns out you can pick your sat when you check in online, so I got myself a window seat (my preference for short flights).

Boarding pass options

British Airways is located at Terminal 5 at Heathrow, which is a dedicated terminal for BA. I checked online and the bag drop at check in was smooth and fast.

T5 check-in

Heathrow has a bad reputation for be an old and crowded airport. It is still crowded but T5 is a pretty good airport experience. There is free wifi and plenty of places to charge your electronics.

British Airways has two inflight magazines: High Life, and Business Life.

A notable change in service has been the removal of free meal services on European flights. Meals are now branded with M&S – the British department store chain.

M&S On Board

Sandwiches start at 3.10 GBP.

A coffee is 2.30 GBP.

And a beer is 4 GBP.

Beer

There is a supermarket at T5 before you check in, so I ended up getting breakfast there. I wasn’t planning to get anything until I saw there was porridge on the menu. I hadn’t had porridge for ages and it seemed like a light stomach filler so I got one. Payment is only by card as well, so the cash days are becoming numbered.

The scheduled flying time is 2 hours 55 minutes, though it is closer to 2.5 hours.

BA at TLL

Overall this was a good flight to Tallinn. Flights to Tallinn are not daily so check the schedule days.
