Beaver Hotel review – A mid-range hotel in Earl’s Court, London

September 5, 2017 By James Clark

Hotel Review: Beaver Hotel, London

Hotel Name: Beaver Hotel
Address: 57-59 Philbeach Gardens, Kensington and Chelsea, London, United Kingdom.

I stayed at the Beaver Hotel in Earl’s Court, London. I booked online and picked it for its location in Earl’s Court. The hotel is on the backside of the Underground station, not far from the former Earl’s Court Exhibition Centre site.

Philbeach Gardens is one of the prettiest streets in Kensington and Chelsea. It’s a crescent-shaped street that is lined with neat terrace houses all the way around. The hotel is next to a church so you can’t miss it.

Beaver Hotel, London

I booked a single room with a shared bathroom. Many of the older B&B-style hotels in this area have the shared bathroom, so make sure that is what you want when booking a room. If you prefer a bathroom I stayed a similar hotel across the road with a bathroom.

My room had just enough space for a single bed, plus a cabinet and sink.

Single Room

The hotel is in an old building and still has its old features. In this case the bathroom on my floor was a literal bathroom, with a room containing a bath.

Bath

To have a shower I had to go down one floor. The toilet/shower room was clean and orderly.

Toilet

The room came with a free breakfast. Sometimes these free breakfasts are just coffee and toast, but here was a good cooked meal. There was a choice of cooked eggs, with bacon and sausage, toast, and a yogurt.

Breakfast

There is a nice lounge downstairs which I ended up in to get the internet. WiFi is available in public areas only, so I had to use it here. I did get a fleeting signal in my room, but the hotel is not offered with internet in rooms.

Lounge

Overall this was a good place to stay in London. The location is ideal for exploring on the Tube, and there are lots of places to eat in the area. The hotel is old but feels like it has been recently refurbished as everything felt clean and new. The age of the hotel is reflected in the bath and shower situation, and the lack out power outlets in the room. Usually I don’t book places where wifi isn’t in the room, but I occasionally make exceptions.

Book the Beaver Hotel online or search for more hotels in London.
