Apartment Review: Airbnb in St. Gallen, Switzerland

July 15, 2015 By James Clark

Airbnb in St. Gallen, Switzerland

I was visiting St. Gallen to meet some friends, and I split accommodation for two nights with a friend. The minimum rate for a hotel we could find was around $150 a night (about two weeks in advance) so it was Airbnb to the rescue.

We found a two bedroom apartment that was 15 minutes walk from the main train station, and the total price was around $176 USD, so $88 USD per night for two people.

When I say the apartment was 15 minutes away, about half of that is up a steep hill. It’s a real slog if you do it in one go, and no need to use a StairMaster if you’re doing this every day.

The apartment has a clean and minimalist feel to it, with one bedroom and a sofa bed in the lounge area. The sofa/couch is so big and comfortable that you could sleep on it easily if you forgot to set it up and fell asleep. The bedroom has a single bed and office desk.

There is one bathroom which was clean and tidy.

A kitchen as well, not that we used but it was useful to have a fridge.

My favourite feature of the apartment is the full windows that open out the the garden that overlooks the old town below. There are trees in the way but you can see the old town from the garden and hear the lovely church bells ringing down below.

You can book the apartment here, and if you are new to Airbnb you can get $25 credit by applying here.

If you would still rather stay in a hotel search for more hotels in St Gallen.
