Paddlesteamer Canberra, Echuca – Australia

Paddlesteamer Canberra, Echuca - Australia

Echuca is a few hours north of Melbourne and makes for a good stopover if you are driving into the great interior of Australia. Echuca is on the Murray River (Australia’s largest river) and it was the largest inland port in Australia in the 1800′s. Buildings in the historic port still remain and there are a collection of paddlesteamers have been restored and run tours on the river.

  2. Now I know this one too! Thanks for sharing. Old-style boat cruises in Australia. One thing many wouldn’t think of when they hear “Australia”… Hmmm…
I bet the river has crocs in it :P

  3. Great picture! It looks like one of the scenes in The River!

  4. James, what a great place! Did you go on a paddle wheeler? How is the food there? Have you ever had croc? I have not but being in Florida I have had gator. Brian.

    • I didn’t go on the paddlewheeler this time. I had croc once, many years ago though so I don’t remember what it was like. You can find it in butchers in the northern states.
