Nice is famous for it’s beach, so I was surprised when I first saw it that it was a beach of pebbles (like that in Brighton, England). The beach here is more about a way of life than the beach itself, and if you are here in the off season you would wonder what the fuss is about.
I don’t come to Europe for it’s beaches though. Give me an old town to wander around and I’m happy. Vieux Nice (Old Nice) is a little pocket of Nice that has a totally different vibe to the rest of the city. Away from the wide boulevards and grand hotels here you have narrow laneways and old churches.
